The family is the basic unit of any society. Family members are expected to unite to work towards a common goal. Such unity however, is very difficult to achieve, given the many internal and external factors that can come into play in family relationships. It is therefore considered a feat when a family is able to move itself into action towards serving others and coming out stronger in spite of the many challenges. The 5th Jollibee Family Values Awards (JFVA) sought out the best in the country and came up with the 5th JFVA Winning Families.

The stories of these families are diverse and refreshing,characterized by compassion and generosity. Most endeavors may have started with the motive to help an affected member of the family. The ability to transcend personal motives towards the good of the community set them apart from the rest.

The right values begin and are nurtured at home. Our ability to raise children with sound values will determine the strength of our nation since they are the future leaders of the country. There is a need to inculcate the value of being of assistance to others and making an actual difference in their lives. 



My Say

The values that older generations honor have not changed. This is something that younger generations have to take heed of. The definition of good and bad has not changed either, only our interpretation of it depending on how it affects us.

That said, families have so much power in their hands to produce innately good people and each one us has what it takes to be good, if only we will give it a chance. Our respective families may never get the same award like the families above but a truly happy family who respect and value each member in this imperfect world is reward enough.
