The importance of providing improved digital capability to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country cannot be denied. It is for this very reason that LBC joined forces anew with Go Negosyo. This is with the goal to give these businesses an extra push so they will realize their biggest potential.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by LBC Express Holdings, Inc. CEO Santiago Araneta and Go Negosyo Founder Joey Concepcion at the Manila Polo Club recently. With them during the signing were LBC Express Chief Marketing Officer Javier Mantecon and Go Negosyo Adviser for MSME Development Merly Cruz.
Having been partners for more than five years, Concepcion expressed his gratitude to LBC Express Holdings, Inc. “Santi [Araneta] has been a staunch supporter of Go Negosyo and its pursuit of developing programs for MSMEs so they could be part of the country’s inclusive economic growth”.
One area which LBC believes needs to be immediately addressed by MSMEs is meeting the demands of digitization. Araneta observed that despite the easy access to digital services, 97% of the Metro Manila population still opt to use cash. “The only time you can have someone put money digitally is when they have excess of it,” he shared. Concepcion echoed the need to provide an avenue for sari-sari stores and other small businesses to scale up in the digital world, going as far as recommending that those who heed the call be given incentives.
For the initial roll out of Go Negosyo’s Mentor Me On Wheels (MWOW), LBC nominated Jovel Cipriano, an external mentor and e-commerce expert to talk to participants in the MMOW. Jovel says: “My goal is simple: to be able to share with all aspiring and underserved entrepreneurs the wealth of benefits that can be derived by going digital. By going online, MSMEs will be able to reach a wider market, ensuring that their respective enterprises grow and remain relevant for a very long time”.
Aside from MMOW, LBC has been supporting the Kapatid Negosyo Mentorship program which helps micro and small entrepreneurs scale up their businesses by coaching business owners and practitioners on different functional areas of entrepreneurship such as marketing, human resources and operations management.

My Say
We need initiatives like this carried out by entities and personalities who have the reach and means to make it happen. Kudos to LBC and Go Negosyo.
That said, I am certainly looking forward to seeing the day when the benefits of this endeavor is finally realized by micro and small entrepreneurs, the very group targeted in this partnership.
