My youngest daughter has always been a non-problematic eater from birth. I breastfed her for almost a year until I was abruptly forced to stop when I had to have a series of rabies shots after being scratched by a street cat. Even then, we had no problem as she readily took in formula milk and solid food. From birth up to about her 6th year, the only vitamin prescribed for her by the doctor was Vitamin C.
Sometime before she celebrated her 7th birthday though, we noticed that she was becoming a picky eater. It seemed that she had all kinds of excuses to delay eating her food or not to eat at all. Although losing a few pounds was admittedly ideal for her, I believe no parent would not be alarmed when confronted with such a situation. After all, we know that children need to eat to get the nutrients they need for their developing bodies.
Food Supplements
This was the time when her doctor recommended the addition of vitamin and food supplements to her daily intake. While the emphasis is still on providing a balanced healthy diet, the recommended multivitamin or mineral supplement was intended to augment what was lacking. During that time, she simply wasn't eating enough. From then, we tried several brands in our search for one that would fit her.
The latest one we tried is Nutri10Plus, a multivitamins with minerals produced by Wert Philippines Inc. Lately, our concern is not about her being a picky eater but more of the possibility that she may not be eating well-balanced meals. Due to time constraints because of our work, my husband and I find it increasingly difficult to prepare well-rounded home-cooked meals for our children like we used to. We are not sure as well if she is buying the right food at school. With all the activities that she wants to do, we need to make sure that she has the energy to match them.
Nutri10Plus
At the age of 11, my daughter is going through a phase of discovering what she really wants to do with her life. As parents, we can only support and guide them but we can never really choose. One way of supporting them is to ensure their physical health. Academic, extracurricular activities, and other social activities can certainly take its toll on kids who are not on the peak of health.
Nutru10Plus is recommended for children aged 1 to 12 years so we will be expecting to search for a different multivitamin in the next year or so. As of this time, it is working just fine for my daughter when it comes to its use. Its indication is to "help promote overall immunity, maximize physical growth & enhance brain development".
For parents who are very particular about its contents, every 5 mL of Nutri 10 Plus syrup contains the following:
Chlorella growth factor (CGF) 100 mg, taurine 25 mg, lysine 300 mg, vit A palmitate (equiv to 420 RE) 764 IU, vit D3 (cholecalciferol) (equiv to 5.25 mcg) 210 IU, vit E acetate (equiv to 9 mg-TE) 13.5 IU, vit B1 (thiamine HCl) 1 mg, vit B2 (riboflavin) 1 mg, vit B3 (niacinamide) 15 mg, vit B6 (pyridoxine HCl) 1.3 mg, vit B12 (cyanocobalamin) 2.4 mcg, vit C (ascorbic acid) 60 mg, elemental Zn (as Zn sulfate) 6.8 mg. Per mL Nutri 10 Plus drops Chlorella growth factor (CGF) 5 mg, taurine 15 mg, lysine 50 mg, vit A palmitate 764 IU, vit D3 (cholecalciferol) 210 IU, vit E acetate 6 IU, vit B1 (thiamine HCl) 0.5 mg, vit B2 (riboflavin 5-phosphate) 0.5 mg, vit B3 (niacinamide) 6 mg, vit B6 (pyridoxine HCl) 0.4 mg, vit B12 (cyanocobalamin) 0.6 mcg, vit C (ascorbic acid) 35 mg, Zn (as Zn sulfate monohydrate) 4.2 mg
Doctors say that there are at least six vitamins and minerals needed by kids including Vitamin A, Vitamin Bs, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Calcium, and Iron.
My Say
Like any other parent, I only want the best for my children. Unfortunately, I am not able to do everything. That is why I need help from products that would ensure their well-being.
That said, I would never get tired of doing what I can for them. I pray that they do grow up knowing the value of good health.
